REACH Regulation

Since the EU Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulation was first announced, Consortium representatives have engaged extensively with companies, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), and the European Commission regarding various aspects of its impact on animals. The Consortium is an ECHA-accredited stakeholder, and we continue to work to ensure that in vivo tests are avoided whenever possible – for example, by intervening in ECHA Board of Appeal cases, publishing advice on minimising animal testing, and participating in ECHA Member State Committee meetings. Further details on our work to minimise the animal testing implications of REACH can be found here, and specific advice to registrants on minimising tests on animals for REACH can be found here.
